Minutes

The LRPC met to continue its discussion about how the campus can move forward on building a community of faculty. We talked about the potential importance of a center (physical or digital) where faculty could interact, what kinds of resources could be used to facilitate faculty engagement, what kinds of investments by IU would facilitate hiring and retaining faculty, and about whether strategic investment by the university in non-academic things could help alleviate the kind of dissatisfaction among faculty that causes them to leave Bloomington. We decided to try to articulate four or five principles for building a strong and inclusive faculty community, create a discussion document, and then to talk to faculty groups around campus about the causes and possible solutions to dissatisfaction.  Comments and suggestions are welcome.
