This proposal establishes election units in four non-tenure-track faculty groups: clinical appointees; lecturer appointees; professor of practice appointees; and research scientist/scholar appointees. Election units will be determined by the Nomination Committee and ratified by the BFC.
The proposal passed the Bloomington Faculty Council, with five members opposed.
This represents a significant change in the way faculty governance works at IU, expanding the voice of NTT faculty on the council from its current three seats to a number of seats proportional to NTT’s fraction of the faculty--- to approximately fifteen seats, currently. This would necessarily mean an increased service duty for those NTT faculty participating in the Council, and a larger voice for NTT concerns. It also would more truly reflect the character of the faculty of the campus.

There are four additional proposals related to the increase in the number of non-tenure track representatives on the Council. One proposal eliminates the cap on tenure track representatives, and three reduce the number of representatives in other categories.
