Long Range Planning Committee

The Long Range Planning Committee systematically monitors the Bloomington campus environment affecting teaching, research, and faculty status and alerts the Bloomington Faculty Council to significant strategic issues that can be expected to affect faculty interests.

2025-2026 Assignments

An at-large campus-wide committee, that will be charged by the IUB Chancellor, will be working on developing a redesigned general education curriculum for the IUB campus. This work will be a continuation of the work that has been done by the BFC over the last few years around the need to reform general education. As a reminder of the work that has already been done, the BFC charged a task force with assessing and reporting on the future of general education on the IUB campus. They worked from 2019-2023, presenting a final written report to the faculty in spring 2024. In 2024-2025, the BFC Long Range Planning committee took the next steps in the process to explore several questions for redefining general education at IUB and presented a set of final recommendations to be considered in the next steps.
