Libraries Committee

The Libraries Committee advises the Dean of Libraries on priorities and collections. It also monitors relevant changes in state and/or federal laws regarding issues such as copyright, accessibility, and restrictions on access.

2026-2027 Assignments

  1. Monitor state and federal laws (including federal rulemaking) for any changes that might impact IU Libraries and inform Bloomington faculty as needed.
  2. Collaborate with the Dean of Libraries to inform funding and collecting priorities.
  3. Support RAC and TPC in developing a policy regarding the voluntary archiving of research data (post-completion), with the Libraries Committee’s role focused on identifying faculty needs at the intersection of research data and library services, including data ownership, curation, access, and preservation, and connecting RAC/TPC with appropriate IU Libraries experts, such as Research Data Services and Scholarly Communication.
