Under the principle of shared governance, the faculty have significant legislative authority over the academic mission of the university. The structure of faculty governance and the scope of faculty authority are set out in the Constitution of the Bloomington Faculty, which generally delegates most functions to the elected BFC. The operations of the BFC and its committees are controlled by its bylaws.
