Benefits Committee

The Benefits Committee develops policies concerning faculty benefits programs, including health and retirement benefits, and consults regularly with the Associate Vice President for Human Resources.

2023-24 Assignments

  1. Ensure that IU continues to offer high quality, affordable health and retirement benefits for all employees and students.
  2. Continue establishing relationships with HR leaders, particularly those who oversee benefits.
  3. Keep members of the Council apprised of proposed changes in benefits and make sure that members understand the finalized benefits package for the coming year so that they can share information about it with constituents.
  4. In light of contemplated changes to the university and campus budget models, investigate the potential costs and benefits associated with making campus Rec Sports facilities more accessible to all employees, including faculty, by eliminating use fees.
  5. Collaborate with HR leadership and the IU Bloomington Staff Council to enhance the suite of negotiated “Employee Perks” offered to all employees, including faculty. These “perks” are very valuable in their own right and the IUBSC has historically done the bulk of the work to secure them for all IUB employees.
