Memorial resolutions honor deceased faculty members for the contributions to their field, their department, and the University. They are read into the record at BFC meetings and approved by unanimous consent.
When a faculty member dies, the administrator of the individual’s unit is encouraged to appoint a committee or colleague to prepare a memorial resolution that contains a concise description of the faculty member’s life, career, and character. Recent memorial resolutions can be found by year, on the circulars page, under the most recent BFC meetings.
The text of the resolution should be sent to the campus necrologist, Indermohan Virk, at ivirk@indiana.edu. For more information or if you have questions, contact Ms. Virk or the BFC office at bfcoff@indiana.edu.
